Cherry Pie!

God always amazes me! He cares about every single detail of my life and periodically He makes something happen that reminds me of his constant care. Today was one of those times. Yesterday, I wanted some cherry pie. I called two places that I hoped had some but was told that apple was all that was available. This morning, on the way to worship service, I suddenly thought of cherry pie again, that was followed by the thought to call Harris Teeter. I used Siri to find the number and soon I was talking to the bakery. The bakery associate apologized and said a delivery was expected tomorrow; they only had one cherry pie. I explained I only needed one and asked if the pie was fresh. She checked and the pie was baked yesterday. I asked if she could hold the pie for me and gave her my name. I was ecstatic! I thanked the associate and also thanked God...one pie was available and He had led me to it. After worship service, I drove to Harris Teeter and retrieved the pie from the bakery. When I

News Flash: I Have a Screw Loose!

There may be a person or two (or three...) who may have thought this about me. Well, it is official: I really do have a screw loose. Here's the story. About ten years ago I had a dental implant done by an outstanding dental surgeon in Florida. The process involved a bone graft, placement of a metal post into my jaw, and finally the crown was attached by a screw. The entire process took about nine months. In spite of my strong cleaning efforts, the inflammation was still present and an appointment was made for a specialist's opinion. The specialist found that the screw that attaches the crown to the metal post has become loose and that is the source of the problem. The crown must be removed, the area cleaned out and allowed to heal, and a n

Graduation!

Our grandson graduated from Bowling Green University on Saturday with a Master of Business Administration. My husband and I attended the graduation and were so grateful to see our grandson receive his diploma. There was great excitement in the air because family members could actually attend graduation: COVID is still a challenge; to better protect attendees it was held outdoors. This graduation was especially poignant for me because I remember when my grandson was a premature baby who hovered between heaven and earth for several days after he was born. After those tenuous days, due to being born eight weeks too soon, there were months of sleepless nights because he was extremely irritable and would cry and scream inconsolably. I would spend nights rocking him, wiping his bright pink face, and praying .  No one would ever look at our grandson now and know that he struggled so much the first six months of his life. He is strong in body, strong in mind, and, most importantly, strong in t
