Amazingly enough we are almost at the end of the month of February. I don't know about you but it seems as if time is moving very quickly. It seems like "yesterday" that we were wishing each other a "Happy New Year!" I also don't know what the beginning of this year has brought your way but I do know about supply shortages, rising prices, continued political controversies, violence in the news, and many other things that are not in line with producing a "happy" year. Circumstances can have a powerful impact on our well-being.
However, there is something that can help us maintain our focus and spread happiness even through the tough times: our attitude. "Attitude" is "a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person's behavior (Dictionary.com)." In my January 1st blog, I shared a way of thinking that can positively affect our personal well-being (Philippians 4: 4-8). Today, I want to remind us of a way of behaving that will not only increase our "happy" but will also instill some happiness in others. We have all heard it, and most of us have said it: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The Message Bible says it this way in Luke 6: 31..."Here is a simple rule of thumb for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you; then grab the initiative and do it for them!
This coming week, look for ways to spread happiness and act on at least one. And then do the same the following week, and the week after that, and the week after that....soon it will become a way of life. You will become God's ambassador of happiness.
I hope my photo of our miniature poodle with his tie brings you some happiness!
